Compack - Universal Telephone Audio Interface
Be completely Prepared! Pick up this new handheld road tool to get audio in an out of analogue phone lines, PBX systems, even cell phones. Perfect for Remote Broadcasts, IFB feeds, or interviews over any phone connection.
Cell Phones:
Simply plug ComPack into the 2.5 mm headset jack of your mobile phone (we are able to provide adapters for phones which do not have a 2.5mm jack). Your phone will recognize ComPack as a headset which will disable the mic and speaker in the phone.
PBX Systems:
Unplug the handset from any analog or digital PBX phone and plug the coily cord into ComPack. You can now send and receive audio through the PBX telephone set.
Analog Phones:
Plug ComPack into an RJ-11 jack, go off-hook and dial, or answer an incoming call.
ComPack also functions as a simple telecom interface for your beltpack intercom system. This no-frills feature allows you to connect the 3 pin male XLR to your beltpack intercom group. This provides a full duplex, always-on connection to any telephone network.
The ComPack cell phone interface was designed to take advantage of the increasing number of wireless phones that accept third party headsets and earpiece headsets. While some wireless phones have the 2.5 mm jack directly on the phone, others require a headset adapter which converts their proprietary connector into this 2.5mm jack.

- How can I record my conversation?
- The male XLR, in “Line Out” mode provides a nice mix of both sides of the conversation.
- How do I select which telephone interface I will be using (phone line, PBX, or wireless)?
- Actually, all three connections are live all the time. Technically, you could connect to all three at once, but since there is no way to equalize levels, this “conference call” might not be the best quality connection.
- Will ComPack work with my particular model of mobile phone?
- As long as your wireless phone has a 2.5 mm earpiece jack and accepts a generic 3rd party earpiece or headset, you should be OK. If your phone does not have a 2.5mm jack, Vortex are able to provide you with an adapter.
- Can I talk on my handheld phone and record the conversation using ComPack?
- No, most phones detect the presence of anything plugged into the headset jack and immediately disable the phones microphone and speaker.
- What if my phone does not have a 2.5 mm earpiece / headset jack?
- Vortex will provide you with an adapter for your model phone to a 2.5mm jack.
- Can I send and receive audio at the same time?
- Yes, but whatever audio you send into the ComPack will come back mixed with the caller audio.
- What is the Com Link used for?
- Simply slide the Male XLR function switch to Com Link and you can connect the ComPack Male XLR to your single channel belt pack intercom system.
- Will ComPack work with my intercom?
- While we’ve tested ComPack with ClearCom, RTS and Telex Audiocom single channel party line belt packs with excellent results, we do not have endorsements from any of these manufacturers.
