The V-50/VG VITC Generator / LTC Timecode Reader / Character Inserter is part of our established range of versatile low-cost timecode products, housed in CE approved desktop metal cases, any 3 of which may be rackmounted using the V-RM50 rack adapter (available separately). It can read LTC Longitudinal Timecode, Generate VITC Vertical Interval Timecode either from a preset time or jam-synched to the LTC timecode input plus generate timecode characters in vision for window dubs, used for tape logging.
The Video input references the VITC Generator and timecode characters are inserted over this signal. The size and position of the characters may be changed using the front panel controls. Characters are white with either solid or see-through mask with indication of Drop-Frame / Non-Drop operation and Field1 / Field2. The lines on which the VITC timecode is inserted may be selected using DIP switches on the rear panel. For applications where the Vertical Interval is not recorded onto tape (such as DVCam) an Active Video Generator is available (V-50/AVG) which positions the timecode lines within active video. A preset timecode can be entered using front panel switches to step through HH:MM:SS:FF or there are 30/60/90/120 second backtime presets.
Timecode User-Bits can be set from the front panel to provide information such as Reel Number or Date. If user-bits are present in the LTC timecode signal, these are automatically passed to the generator for jam-sync operation. Timecode data or User-Bits may be displayed by the video inserter with selection available from the front panel. Please note that if both Timecode data and User-bits need to be displayed on the video signal at the same time, two timecode reader / inserters would be required.
The V-50/VWG Window Generator provides a low-cost solution for VITC timecode reader / character inserter applications where timecode generation is not required.
The V-50/VLT VITC to LTC Translator is part of our established range of versatile low-cost timecode products, housed in CE approved desktop metal cases, any 3 of which may be rackmounted using the V-RM50 rack adapter (available separately). It can read VITC Vertical Interval Timecode and translate it to LTC Linear Timecode or pass through the LTC input to the output in the absence of VITC.
The translator works at speeds from 20x play speed to still frame and has forward-only or bidirectional LTC output (user-selectable). It also incorporates a -1 frame search offset for use at slow play speeds or still frame to remove the +1 frame offset added by downstream equipment.
